Well as my subject line, anyone enjoy the Fig Bars, I love them it is a very good natural snack kinda gives me a pick up from time to time. Sorry if I am posting this in the wrong area, did not know the place to add, for I was directing to 2 diabetics.
I used to love them but found they really raise my BS so if I really want one I have to eat half. Everyone is different, this is what works for me. All the best to All, Rudy. Even without diabetes, no one should eat a bunch of them. But if you keep them and you can keep good glucose levels, that works for you. I love figs but stopped eating fig bars because of the added sugars. A fresh medium fig by diabetes and fig newtons has 10 grams of carbohydrate.
Diabetes and fig newtons will indulge but account for their carbohydrate content in my daily total daily carbohydrate gram allowance. I made some a few months ago with a cream cheese filling and they were awesome, diabetes and fig newtons. They are a nice treat once in a while. I like them just fine, but a serving size is two. Hardly enough to taste. I tend to avoid fruit, mostly…which is too bad, because I like it. Diabetes and fig newtons work some whole, real fruit into my diet, but would not touch processed, dried fruit, like you find in those bars…they are probably more sugar than fruit.
Fig bars, like fig newtons are no longer on the menu. Refined flour and sugar, diabetes and fig newtons. I suppose a whole grain sugar free fig bar might be a better choice, diabetes and fig newtons, but my finger is not at the end of your test strip so you will have to find out for yourself.
I was thinking about using figs in a dish over the holiday, but when I looked them up I thought I saw they were loaded with carbs. I like figs and I loved Fig Newtons growing up. Sadly, there is just too much sugar in the bars for me. I would rather eat the fig, get the fiber, and be happy.
